Abby Wolpert is a New York City-based musical theater lyricist and librettist. Originally from Roanoke, VA, she holds a B.A. in English and Creative Writing from Virginia Commonwealth University. She is currently pursuing a Master of Arts in Writing and Production for Musical Theater at Berklee NYC.

Abby began her writing career as a poet, a foundation that continues to inform her lyrical voice and narrative approach. Her one-act musical, Don’t Go Out With Peter, co-written with collaborator Jack Theiling, premiered at the Dramatists Guild of America in May 2024 as part of the Musical Creators’ Institute Core Program. She is currently developing a comedic musical adaptation of the cult-classic horror film The Brain That Wouldn’t Die.

In addition to her theatrical work, Abby’s poetry has been featured in notable literary journals, including The Cardiff Review, Levee Magazine, and Southern Poetry Anthology Vol. IX: Virginia (Texas Review Press).
